Oregon high school students invited to create ads promoting workplace heat safety

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- High school students across Oregon are being encouraged to use their creative skills to promote heat illness prevention in the workplace through a new media contest.

The annual competition, organized by the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA), aims to raise awareness among young workers about the importance of preventing heat-related illness on the job.

Participants can submit either a digital graphic or a short video—no longer than 90 seconds—that highlights the key message (of the students' choice) workplace heat safety.

First-place winners in both video and graphic design categories will receive $500. Second-place winners will earn $400, and those who take third place will receive $300. Schools of first place winners will receive a matched donation of $500.

Entries are due by 5 p.m. on Jan. 30, 2026.
