Tree of Joy Returns to Help Central Oregon Children This Holiday Season
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — The annual Tree of Joy, a longtime holiday partnership between The Salvation Army and the three Rotary clubs of Bend, is returning to help brighten the season for children across Central Oregon.
The program invites community members to select a tag representing a local child in need and purchase gifts that will make their holidays a little brighter.
Families can choose a child’s wish tag either in person at the physical Tree of Joy or online. The in-person tree is located in the Old Mill District’s Santaland, in Suite 429 upstairs above LUSH Cosmetics, and will be staffed Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting on Black Friday, Nov. 28, through Dec. 21.
Each tag includes a child’s first name, age, gender and a list of gifts they are hoping for.
Those who prefer to participate digitally can pick a tag online at TreeOfJoyBend.com, where organizers say children’s profiles will be loaded before Black Friday.
Participants are asked to return unwrapped gifts by 5 p.m. on Dec. 21 to either The Salvation Army at 541 NE DeKalb Avenue or the Hilton Garden Inn in Bend.
Each gift donated helps support a local child who might otherwise go without during the holiday season.
