Redmond, Ore. - (KTVZ) A local housing nonprofit in Redmond got a financial boost as it marks a major milestone.

Tuesday afternoon, Hayden Homes presented a $10,000 donation to Oasis Village, a transitional shelter community located along Highway 126. The gift comes as Oasis Village celebrates two years of operation, after opening in January 2024.

Oasis Village was created in response to Governor Tina Kotek’s declaration of a statewide homelessness emergency on her first day in office. Following that announcement, the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council and other local partners worked quickly to meet an eight-month deadline to use emergency funding to build shelter housing in the region.

The village provides people experiencing homelessness with a safe, stable place to stay, along with access to health care, case management, and other social services aimed at helping residents move toward long-term housing.

The check presentation was at 2 p.m. at Oasis Village in Redmond.
