Pacific Power Customers to see small rate decrease starting January 2026

Oregon Public Utility Commission (PUC) officials say Pacific Power customers will see a modest decrease in their electric bills starting January 1, 2026. The change comes after the PUC approved new rates based on PacifiCorp’s annual forecast of power costs needed to meet customer demand in the coming year.

For a typical residential customer using 900 kilowatt-hours per month, the reduction amounts to about 96 cents, or 0.7%, bringing the average monthly bill to approximately $153.28. Actual impacts will vary depending on energy usage and customer type, including single-family, multi-family, commercial, or industrial accounts.

The decrease is primarily driven by projected fuel costs, purchased power, and wholesale sales, among other anticipated power cost expenses for 2026. Commission Chair Letha Tawney said, “We appreciate the hard work of PUC staff, stakeholders, and PacifiCorp in this case, which resulted in a slight decrease for customers to start 2026. Thanks to House Bill 3179, customer rates cannot increase during the winter heating season, helping families manage utility bills when they need it most.”

Additional rate adjustments are expected to take effect April 1, 2026, with specific impacts announced in March.
