Sleep in Heavenly Peace Chapter Ends Operations

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Sleep in Heavenly Peace Chapter of Deschutes County is no longer active, having dedicated itself to building, assembling and delivering bunk beds to children and families in need.
According to the organization's national website, Sleep in Heavenly Peace began in a garage during Christmas, a time often associated with giving and love. What started as an effort to build a single bed for one family quickly developed into a broader community effort, inspired by the generosity of local volunteers.
The organization originally grew from a simple request for one bed to engaging a significant number of local volunteers who wanted to assist. A post on Facebook sparked an unexpected response, leading to more requests than anticipated, as many families expressed a need for beds.
This surge in community support turned the project into a mission that was not just focused on one family, but on helping as many children as possible. Local generosity transformed the initiative into something much larger, showcasing the profound impact of community spirit.
