Central Oregon celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day, plenty of volunteer opportunities today in Bend

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- There are plenty of volunteer opportunities happening today, January 19th, for folks looking to make a difference and emphasize the remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy. Across the country and here in Oregon, people will mark the day with service projects, marches and reflections.
One of several events happening today, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery is holding its "MLK Day of Service 2026". You can find the details for this event, as well as how you can register for numerous other volunteer opportunities below.

Please join us to help strengthen your community! Fun for all ages! Bring your friends and family too!
We are excited to share this morning with you! We have activities that can be for ages 5 (with care giver present) to 85 years!
This event will be held at 2125 NE Daggett Lane, Bend, OR  97701, from 10AM until 1PM on 1/19/2026.
Areas to choose from to help day of:
1. Deep-clean everything within our 3 classrooms, front desk and kitchen, creating a sparkling clean space for our hardworking teachers and the children we serve! (Gloves and supplies provided.) Please wear clothes you don't mind getting messy.
2. Create handcrafted unique thank-you, birthday, anniversary cards etc. using vibrant fingerpaint art by MountainStar kiddos—an artistic way to spread gratitude to our community supporters!
All supplies and snacks provided. Come for the entire time or as your schedule allows. Invite others to join you!
