Hoodoo Ski Area Suspending Operations, Lack of Snowfall Impacting Resorts Around the West

SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Hoodoo Ski Area is suspending all operations immediately until the region receives more snowfall. The resort announced the closure following a period of warm weather and sunshine that significantly reduced the local snowpack.
Management reached the decision to close after surveying the mountain terrain multiple times over several days. While the facility is currently shut down, officials are monitoring a change in the weather forecast expected next week.
Management made the decision after conducting multiple assessments of the mountain. "We have surveyed the terrain many times over the last few days and, sadly, have to make the call to close until Mother Nature blesses us with more snow," Hoodoo Ski Area management stated in an announcement. The resort noted that recent environmental factors were the primary reason for the suspension. "The warm weather and sunshine has taken a huge hit on the snowpack and, unfortunately, brought us to this point," management said.
Customers who purchased tickets for days when the resort is closed will receive credits to their accounts for future visits. Hoodoo Ski Area officials confirmed that guests who prefer a refund instead of a credit will be accommodated. The resort thanked patrons for their continued support as they wait for conditions to improve.
Resort officials expressed optimism regarding weather patterns forecasted for the coming week, which may bring the necessary conditions to resume operations. "We will open as soon as possible and are very optimistic about the change in the forecast next week bringing cold temps and lots of snow," management said. The facility intends to return to normal operations as soon as the snowpack allows for safe activity.
