Local students to display art in Bend’s Youth Art Takeover this Friday

Downtown Bend

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Local students will showcase their creativity in downtown Bend this Friday, April 3, during the Youth Art Takeover. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and features student-led art, live music and performances.

The takeover is part of the monthly First Friday tradition, allowing Central Oregon's next generation of creators to display their work in various local businesses. The event aims to highlight student talent while maintaining the community's established artist showcase.

Participating businesses will be identified by balloons placed outside their entrances. These markers are designed to guide visitors to each stop featuring student or professional art throughout the downtown area.

While the event focuses on student talent, many downtown businesses will also host local adult artists and special activations. These exhibits follow the traditional First Friday format alongside the youth-led performances.

The takeover coincides with the region's first forecasted sunny evening of the year. This shift in weather follows a week of cold temperatures in Central Oregon.

An awards ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Commons Cafe Courtyard.
