Oregon State Police say Terrebonne man died Thursday evening in collision with truck hauling potatoes on Hwy. 97 in Sherman County

KENT, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A Terrebonne man was killed Thursday evening when his pickup truck was struck by a truck loaded with potatoes on Highway 97 in Sherman County, Oregon State Police said Friday.

Troopers and emergency personnel responded around 7:10 p.m. to the reported crash near milepost 48.

A preliminary investigation found that a commercial vehicle loaded with potatoes, driven by Amador Ramirez, 25, of Hermiston, was heading north when he lost control and it crossed into the southbound lane, rolling onto the driver's side, OSP said.

The truck collided with a southbound Chevy pickup driven by Ryan Spyker, 45, who sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, troopers said. Ramirez had minor injuries.

Highway 97 was closed for about five hours after the crash.

OSP was assisted at the crash scene by the Sherman County Sheriff's Office, Moro Fire & Rescue and ODOT.
