Missing La Pine-area woman, subject of extensive search, found deceased; authorities say foul play is not suspected

La PINE, Ore. (KTVZ) – A La Pine-area woman who left her home late Wednesday without a phone or ID and was reported missing the next day, prompting an extensive search and public notice, was found deceased Saturday, and Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said foul play is not suspected.
Tamera Torkelson was located in the area of Sixth Street and Highway 97 in the La Pine area, Sergeant Kyle Kalmbach said.
"The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division responded and conducted a thorough investigation and foul play is NOT suspected," Kalmbach said in a news release, adding that the county medical examiner's office and district attorney's office will continue the investigation.
Deputies dispatched Thursday to the report of a missing/overdue woman learned that Torkelson left her residence on foot around 10 p.m. Wednesday on foot, without a phone or ID.
Before she was found, the sheriff’s office conducted an extensive search for Torkelson," Kalmbach said. Those efforts included the deployment of -9 bloodhound Copper and his handler, Sheriff's Search and Rescue deputies, detectives, drones and the Patrol Division.
"The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the residents of La Pine for their assistance in this matter," Kalmbach said.
