Motorcyclist, 21, seriously injured in Bend Parkway rollover crash cited for DUII-alcohol
(Update: Motorcyclist cited, in fair condition)
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 21-year-old Bend man was seriously injured Tuesday night in the rollover crash of his motorcycle on the Bend Parkway, but police said he is expected to survive. They also said Wednesday that he had been cited for DUII-alcohol.
Officers responded around 7:25 p.m. to the reported crash in the southbound lanes of the parkway near Reed Lane, Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller said.
According to witnesses, the motorcycle apparently rolled several times, and the rider was thrown off it, down an embankment off the west side of the parkway, Miller said,
Bend Police officers provided initial medical care until Bend Fire & Rescue medics arrived on scene.
Miller said the motorcyclist, who reportedly was wearing a helmet, was taken to St. Charles Bend and is expected to survive. A hospital representative said he was listed in fair condition Wednesday.
Oregon State Police also investigated the crash, which closed both southbound lanes of the Bend Parkway for about 30 minutes. One lane remained closed until shortly before 9 p.m.
