(Update: OSP identifies fatal crash victim)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Oregon State Police on Tuesday released the identity of a 67-year-old Redmond man who was killed last week in the head-on collision of his motorcycle and a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 20 about 20 miles east of Bend.

Troopers and other first responders were called about 1 p.m. last Thursday to the two-vehicle crash near milepost 20 and Horse Ridge

OSP said its preliminary investigation found Stephen Paul Tranhaile of Redmond was riding a Husqvarna motorcycle and attempting to merge into the eastbound lane, but was still in the westbound lane and struck a westbound Ford F-350 driven by a 39-year-old Bend man head-on.

Tranhaile died at the crash scene, troopers said. The pickup driver reportedly was not injured.

The crash investigation closed or affected the highway about six miles west of Millican for about three hours. OSP was assisted by ODOT at the scene.
