KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision of two pickup trucks early Monday morning on U.S. Highway 97 south of Klamath Falls, Oregon State Police reported Tuesday.

OSP said troopers responded at 5:42 a.m. Monday to the two-vehicle crash near milepost 284.

Their preliminary investigation found that Derek Ryan Ford, 30, of Woodland, Colorado, was driving a northbound Nissan Frontier when it crossed the highway's center line for unknown reasons and struck a southbound Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Amy Wilson, 48, of Klamath Falls, head-on in the southbound lane.

Both drivers died at the crash scene, OSP said.

The highway was closed or affected for about three hours as authorities conducted the on-scene investigation. OSP was assisted by the Klamath County Fire District and ODOT.
