Bend man, 74, dies after crashing into motor home at Southern California mobile home park

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - A 74-year-old Bend, Oregon man died after crashing his white BMW into a motorhome in a Desert Hot Springs mobile home park.   

The crash was first reported at around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on North Indian Canyon Drive, north of 14th Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

First responders rushed the driver, identified as a 74-year-man from Bend, to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he was later pronounced dead. He was alone in the vehicle.

"The male was wearing his seat belt, and alcohol/drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this crash,'' according to a CHP news statement.

There was no initial word on what led to the crash and the man's name has not been released. The investigation remains ongoing.

CHP reported there was minor to moderate damage to the motor home.  No other individuals were involved in the crash.
