NORTH BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A corporate jet skidded off the runway and into Coos Bay Monday morning at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in North Bend. The five people aboard were rescued and taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries, authorities said.

The accident happened around 6:15 a.m. and the plane came to a stop in the water about 100 feet off the northeast end of Runway 05/23, the airport said in a Facebook posting.

Later, Bay Area Hospital reported they treated all five people for minor injuries but admitted one patient, transferred one out of the area for services not offered there and discharged three others. All five were alert and oriented when they arrived.

The National Transportation Safety Board authorized the removal of the 2019 HA-420 plane from the bay. It will be secured nearby for their investigation.

United Express suspended commercial air service at the airport until a local salvage company removed the plane from the water at mid-morning.

Emergency response teams on the scene included OTH Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting crews, the Coos Bay and North Bend fire departments, North Bend Police Department and the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
