KTVZ

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — The military and police say militants have attacked a headquarters of the paramilitary security forces in northwestern Pakistan, triggering a shootout in which at least six troops and three insurgents were killed. The Pakistani Taliban, who are also known as the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan militant group, claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Local police say about two dozen security personnel were also wounded in the attack, but that the area was apparently now under control. The military said all the three attackers were killed by troops in the exchange of fire.
