Federal prosecutors charge 40 people after four-year probe of drug trafficking in Mississippi
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Federal authorities say they’ve cracked down on drug trafficking operations in east Mississippi and made about 40 arrests. Prosecutors announced Tuesday that 10 federal indictments have been filed in the U.S. Southern District of Mississippi. They say those arrested have ties to multiple states and Mexico. They are accused of distributing methamphetamine, cocaine and other illegal drugs. Prosecutors also say some of the defendants were charged with committing a methamphetamine drug offense while children were present. Others are charged with threatening to kill someone with an explosive device. Those arrested are from Mississippi, California, Texas, Alabama and Mexico.
