Woman survives bear attack outside her home; mother bear killed and 3 cubs tranquilized
BUTLER, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in Pennsylania say a woman was seriously injured in a bear attack when she let her dog outside. State game commission workers then killed the mother bear and tranquilized her three yearling cubs so they can be moved into the wilderness. Butler Township police said the 55-year-old woman was taken to one hospital and then another for treatment of injuries to her arm, face, neck and head. The woman’s neighbors say they’ve been seeing bears for weeks, and that a doorbell camera recorded four bears rummaging through trash cans.
