Ashley Judd, #MeToo founders react to ruling overturning Harvey Weinstein’s conviction
NEW YORK (AP) — Prominent members of the #MeToo movement are speaking out about the court ruling overturning Harvey Weinstein’s New York rape conviction. Some worry it could deter future sex assault victims from coming forward. And Weinstein’s lawyer says he will be able to testify in a retrial that he never forced women in sexual encounters. Actor Ashley Judd calls the ruling “an act of institutional betrayal.” But #MeToo founder Tarana Burke says that because Weinstein’s accusers broke their silence, millions of other women have come forward to tell their own survival stories. She says that will always be the victory.
