Middle school focuses on recovery as authorities investigate shooting of armed student

MOUNT HOREB, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin authorities are promising a thorough investigation into a police shooting that they said killed an armed student outside a middle school. Meanwhile, families in the community of Mount Horeb are coming together to comfort one another. Wisconsin officials did not release additional information Thursday about the ongoing investigation being led by the state Department of Justice. Authorities said the student never got inside the middle school in Mount Horeb, a small village about 25 miles west of Madison. Authorities have not said whether the student fired a weapon, pointed one at police or what type of weapon he had. His name and age also have not been released.
