It’s the latest argument by the administration to fight the release of the audio, which Republicans allege the Democratic president is trying to suppress because he doesn’t want voters to hear it. The admission highlights the impact the AI-manipulated disinformation could have on voting and the limits of the federal government’s power to combat it. A conservative group that is suing to obtain the audio says the argument is a “red herring.”
