Suspect arrested in NE Bend stabbing
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 34-year-old Bend man was arrested on assault and other charges Sunday afternoon, accused of stabbing and seriously wounding a 37-year-old Bend man in an area near the railroad tracks in northeast Bend, police said.
Officers were dispatched around 3:40 p.m. to a self-storage business in the 1100 block of Northeast First Street on the reported stabbing behind the business, Lt. Bob Jones said.
Officers learned the victim had been stabbed several times in the chest and neck. Bend Fire medics took the man to St. Charles Bend with life-threatening injuries, Jones said, adding that the suspect and victim knew each other.
A woman also on the scene at the time of the stabbing was not injured, Jones added.
Police located the suspect a short time later, near the crime scene, and took him to the Deschutes County Jail, where he was held without bail on a felony parole violation warrant. He also was charged with first-degree assault and attempted assault, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.
Jones said there was no connection between the crime and another stabbing that took place early Sunday morning at a Northeast Third Street motel. The suspect in that case has not been located.
