Bend-La Pine Schools’ free summer meals program begins next week
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Bend-La Pine Schools will offer healthy meals at no charge to children and teens at four outdoor locations this summer. The program, open to anyone 18 and younger, begins Monday, June 24 and continues through the middle of August.
“Our summer meals program helps provide families with food security when our school kitchens are closed,” said Garra Schluter, Assistant Director of Nutrition for the school district. “We see a lot of families come out each weekday, enjoy a lunch made from scratch, and have some fun in the parks.”
Meals will be served at the following locations:
Alpenglow Park, 61049 SE 15th Street, Bend
June 24 - August 16

Lunch: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Boys & Girls Club Downtown, 520 NW Wall Street, Bend
June 25 - August 23
(closed July 4-5, July 12, August 2)
Breakfast: 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
La Pine Elementary School, 51615 Coach Road, La Pine
June 24 - August 16
(closed July 4-5)
Lunch: 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Larkspur Park, 1700 SE Reed Market Road, Bend
June 24 - August 16

Lunch: 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
All meals must be eaten on site. There is no registration or fee. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend with their children and may purchase a meal for themselves for $5.
If people plan to bring a large group of children, they are encouraged to call the Bend-La Pine Schools Nutrition Department the day before at 541-355-3740.
