Bend Fire & Rescue holds fun and educational open house, welcoming families in community

(Update: Adding video)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Bend Fire & Rescue invited the community to its annual open house on Saturday. The free, family-friendly event served as an opportunity to meet firefighters, emergency responders and community partners, as well as take a tour of the fire station and for youngsters to climb aboard a real fire truck and ambulance.

This also was an opportunity for community members to learn valuable safety tips from Bend Fire & Rescue staff. There were safe cooking and smoke alarm demonstrations and an opportunity to learn more about wildfire and home safety.

Kelsey McGee spoke to Fire Inspector Jace Moulton about the community ties and to one of the youngsters on hand who wants to be a firefighter when he grows up.
