NFL legend Lester Hayes says he hopes one day soon, he’ll receive the call, inducting him into the Hall of Fame

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Lester Hayes, the former Oakland Raiders Cornerback, nick named 'Judge' and 'Lester the Molester,' renowned for his stickum-enhanced interceptions and locked down coverage, remains a celebrated figure in NFL history.

Hayes was invited by B.O.R.N. – Bend Oregon Raider Nation, to Bend's Christmas Parade on Saturday.

On Sunday, he signed Raider memorabilia at Big E’s Sports Bar & Grill. He spoke of his use of stickum, a glue-like substance that has since been banned by the NFL.

Hayes believes, stickum did not affect his defensive game and says, ultimately, it was he who won two Super Bowl championships.

Hayes, a key player during the Raiders Super Bowl victories in 1980 and 1983, was known for his unique playing style and larger than life personality on the field.

Drafted back in 1977, he's earned five Pro Bowl selections and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1980 after recording an astonishing 13 interceptions in a single season.

His use of stickum, a controversial adhesive banned in 1981, became a defining aspect of his era. There are some who believe his use of the glue-like substance may have affected his chances to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

Despite being a Hall of Fame finalist several times, Hayes continues to await his official induction.

Today, Hayes dedicates much of his time to mentoring young athletes and reflecting on the game's evolution.
