BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- KPOV is celebrating its 20th anniversary! Since its founding in 2005, KPOV has been a trusted and vibrant voice for Central Oregon, delivering local news, arts, and entertainment to the community.

Our mission is to provide radio by the people and for the people of Central Oregon strengthening community, arts, culture, and democracy through independent, non-commercial radio.

KPOV 88.9 FM, High Desert Community Radio, is excited to announce the dates for our Spring Membership Drive: Friday, April 11 through Saturday, April 19, 2024. Our goal is to raise $40,000 to support day-to-day operations, plus engineering, and equipment upgrades.

Located at 88.9 FM and broadcasting from Bend, KPOV is volunteer-powered, listener-supported, independent community radio. More than 100 volunteers contribute their time and talents to bring diverse programming and unique perspectives to the airwaves 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. KPOV continues to create innovative programs and seeks new ways to bring exceptional homegrown radio to our community.

KPOV is supported by our donors, grants from private foundations, and underwriting support. We don’t receive government or public funding and rely on the generosity of our listeners to cover operating and program expenses.

“We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished over the past 20 years. KPOV has truly been the sound of community,” said Linda Orcelletto, the station’s Executive Director. “The mission our founder established in 2005 is as relevant today as it was two decades ago. We remain committed to connecting you, your friends, and your family with diverse voices, discovering new music and artists, and reporting well-researched news and information.”

To celebrate our 20th anniversary, a group of dedicated supporters has pledged to match every donation dollar for dollar, up to $14,440. This includes matches from Roger Worthington, President of Worthy Garden Club; PacifiCorp; individual donors, as well as contributions from the KPOV board and DJs.

Every gift makes a significant impact in keeping Central Oregon’s community station thriving.

Here’s to 20 more years as the voice of the community!
