PORTLAND, Ore. (KGW) — Bend-based Crux Fermentation Project will close its Portland pub this weekend after nearly two years in operation.

The brewery announced via social media on Tuesday that it's closing the pub in Southeast Portland. The last day of service will be Sunday, March 30.

"After almost 2 years, we have made the difficult decision to close our Portland pub," Crux posted on Instagram. "Our last day of service will be this Sunday 3/30 and we hope to see you for one last pint here in Portland."

Crux opened the location at 2715 Southeast 8th Avenue in June 2023 in a space that was formally Vagabond Brewing, which closed during the pandemic. The brewery is best known for its beers, but its fermentation program also offers whiskey, wines, ciders and even pickles and kraut.

The closure of the pub marks another loss in Portland's shrinking craft brewing scene, driven by changing consumer habits and rising supply chain costs.

Recently, Crux sold its 1.5-acre property with its taproom in Bend and moved brewing equipment from there to its main production facility in Bend, although the tasting room still remains open. Crux sold the property and entered into a long-term lease to continue operating the Bend tasting room.
