BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Central Oregon union members and their families were invited Monday to the annual Labor Day Picnic from noon to 3 p.m. at Bend’s Alpenglow Park.

Here's the news release from union officials about the event. Isabella Warren is visiting the picnic to see what issues are on their minds. Watch her report on NewsChannel 21 at Five:

Food will be served from noon to 1 p.m., followed by remarks from union leaders, labor activists, political candidates and elected officials. Music will be provided by Thomas T. and the Blue Chips. It is free.

The picnic brings together union members from across Central Oregon in solidarity with workers engaged in contract struggles and organizing campaigns.

Local union members say they have much to celebrate—strong contracts for essential workers in the Bend-La Pine Schools and nurses at St. Charles Bend, contract gains won in the building trades, the current campaign for a new contract for medical techs at St. Charles, and union organizing at the Bend Bulletin.
