REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air has modified its service between Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) and Portland International Airport (PDX) from seasonal to year-round daily flights, officials announced Thursday.

"This change reflects the strong business demand and airline’s commitment to smaller communities like Redmond, ensuring vital air service for Central Oregon residents and businesses," Redmond Airport said in Thursday's announcement

The new year-round schedule includes one non-stop flight every day of the week, with a second flight added on peak travel days to meet increased passenger demand.

Flights from RDM to PDX are primarily scheduled in the morning and midday, while flights from PDX provide convenient midday to end-of-day service.  Travelers can view flight schedules, and book tickets by visiting www.alaskaair.com.

This expansion builds on the successful reintroduction of service between Redmond and Portland in the fall of 2023, when Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air resumed the route after a brief hiatus caused by the pandemic and regional capacity constraints.

Last year, the airline operated a seasonal route from November 2023 through April 2024, offering critical connectivity during challenging winter months.

“We are excited about Alaska Airlines' restoration of year-round service to Portland. Our business community has emphasized that this flight is crucial for connecting to key markets, supporting statewide operations, and strengthening links to destinations beyond the continental U.S.  It is essential that we make full use of this route to ensure its long-term viability,” stated CEO Jon Stark of Economic Development for Central Oregon.

The Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) provides 30 daily flights serviced by five air carriers: American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Avelo Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines.  The main terminal is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Boarding lounge amenities include a children’s play area, nursing room, free book exchange, and a coffee/gift shop. A family friendly restaurant and a full-service bar are located post-security (open daily at 5:30 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.)
