Mt. Bachelor’s snowiest November in 26 years paves the way for full operations; Hoodoo also opening Friday

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- After experiencing its snowiest November since 1998, Mt. Bachelor will commence daily operations on Friday under sunny skies, with expanded terrain for the public to enjoy over the holiday weekend.

There will be about 950 acres of open terrain, 34 groomed trails and additional terrain park offerings in the resort’s Woodward Mountain Parks, officials said in Wednesday's update.

There’s been little new snow the last day or so on the slopes, and no big storms are in the immediate future. But nearly three feet has fallen in the past week, for a 55-inch base depth as of Wednesday – and a whopping 10 feet of snowfall since the season began.

It's also a big Opening Weekend at Hoodoo Ski Area near Santiam Pass, which will have its lifts running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday. and reported about three feet of snow.

The Fall Classic Rail Jam, hosted by Mt. Bachelor professional athlete Nora Beck, will take place on Friday, 11/29 in The Point. Registration is free but all participants must have a valid pass or ticket product. With 120” of snow this season, teams are prepping Cloudchaser and Outback lifts to open on Thursday, 12/5, a week earlier than expected. Here’s what guests can look forward to heading into the holiday weekend:

Expected Operations Starting Friday, 11/29

Lifts: Sunrise, Skyliner, Little Pine, Pine Marten
Parking: Sunrise, Skyliner and West Village

Nordic Center: Lodge will be open from 8:30am - 4pm with the Nordic Café serving hot food and beverages from 9am – 3pm. Skiers can expect daily and nightly snow-cat grooming and snowshoers can explore 2 marked trails. Learn more about Nordic offerings here.

Woodward Mountain Parks:

  • Pacific City: 12 jibs
  • Cannon Beach: 3 jumps
  • The Point: 1 jump, 6 jibs – FALL CLASSIC RAIL JAM
  • Short Sands: 3 jibs, 2 jumps
