FedEx confirms Bend Shipping Center on NE Jamison Street closing this month
(Update: adding video, FedEx customer said "it's disappointing")
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- KTVZ News has learned the large FedEx Ship Center in northeast Bend will be closing soon.
A company representative told us Monday employees were notified of the impending closure of the Northeast Jamison Street facility several months ago and were offered help to find other jobs within the company.
There are still two other FedEx customer facilities in the city: a Print & Ship Center on Oregon Avenue downtown and a FedEx Ground facility on NE Brinson Boulevard.
A FedEx customer was disappointed to hear the facility would be shutting down.
“Well, I think it's disappointing that there's been a lot of businesses closing recently, a lot more than I would have anticipated, and I think our economy in our world is a little bit in chaos. So I'm disappointed, because it's close to where I live,” said Bend resident Lori Sutherland.
Here's the company statement provided to KTVZ News:
“FedEx regularly evaluates its network and makes adjustments to align with the evolving needs of the business. The FedEx facility on NE Jamison Street in Bend will close this month. Decisions of this nature are the result of much thought and consideration for maintaining the high level of service expected from our customers and other needs of our business. Affected team members were notified several months before any changes occur and receive assistance with finding other employment opportunities within the company, including additional support options like relocation assistance or severance where applicable.”
