ODOT to close Old McKenzie Pass Highway for the winter on Thursday

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- With snow in the Oregon Cascades predicted in the next few days and into the weekend, maintenance managers with the Oregon Department of Transportation have decided to close the Old McKenzie Pass Highway, Oregon Highway 242, for the winter/snow season, effective Thursday at dawn.

ODOT’s records indicate that the earliest closure of the twisting, scenic Old McKenzie Pass Highway west of Sisters occurred on Oct. 18, 1996. The latest closure happened on Jan. 10, 1939.
