Community Conversations: Local author offers strategies to quiet negative self-talk in new book

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — A new book from local author Jacquie Elliott is helping readers tackle one of the toughest challenges many face: the critical voice in their own heads.

The Silent Bully offers practical strategies to combat negative self-talk and build self-love.

Elliott, who discovered the impact of her own “abusive brain chatter” at the age of 42, says her personal journey inspired the book.

“For me, realizing that I was my own emotional abuser set me on a path that ended up with this book,” she shared.

One of the key tools Elliott teaches is her ABC Method: Aware of your self-talk, Believe in a loving part of yourself, and Challenge the core beliefs that fuel negativity.

She also emphasizes that self-love can become a superpower, not only improving your own life but how you treat others.

The Silent Bully is available wherever books are sold.
