TERREBONNE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A three-month closure of Smith Rock Way near Terrebonne ends next Tuesday when a new, modern bridge opens, replacing an old wooden span with one able to handle more traffic and heavier loads.

The project leads Deschutes County's weekly road construction update:

Smith Rock Way Bridge Replacement (Terrebonne Area) – Final trimming and cleanup work will be occurring at the Smith Rock Way Bridge.

Traffic Information – Smith Rock Way will be open to traffic between NE 33rd Street and Lambert Road starting Tuesday, June 18. Road users should use caution and expect construction equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

Slurry Seal (Bend Area) – Slurry seal work will be occurring in the following subdivisions near Bend:

  • Sunset West
  • Old Deschutes
  • Boones Borough

Work will be occurring on local roadways within these areas from Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21.

Traffic Information – Temporary roadway closures will be occurring within the work areas. Affected property owners have been notified of closures in advance. Road users should expect single lane closures facilitated by flaggers and delays of up to 20 minutes during work hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Chip Seal (Sisters & Millican Areas) – Deschutes County crews will be chip sealing and/or fog sealing the following roads (weather permitting):

Chip Seal -

  • NW Holmes Road
  • Sabrina Court
  • Fadjur Lane
  • Goodrich Road
  • Edmundson Road

Fog Seal-

  • Spencer Wells Road

Traffic Information – Road users should anticipate single lane closures facilitated by flaggers and delays of up to 20 minutes during work hours, 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Paving of Old Bend Redmond Highway/S Canal Boulevard (Tumalo/Redmond Areas) –Aggregate shoulder work will be occurring on Old Bend Redmond Highway and S Canal Blvd between Tumalo Road and Elkhorn Avenue.

Traffic Information – Road users should expect single-lane closures facilitated by flaggers and delays of up to 20 minutes during work hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Powell Butte Highway/Butler Market Road Intersection Improvement (Bend Area) –Grading work will be occurring at the intersection of Powell Butte Highway and Butler Market Road.

Traffic Information – Butler Market Road is closed to traffic between Powell Butte Highway and Dickey Road. A designated detour route is in place via Nelson Road and Dickey Road. The speed limit along the detour route is 35 miles per hour. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Findley Drive Turn Lane Improvement (La Pine Area) – Road work will be occurring at the intersection of Findley Drive with Huntington Road.

Traffic Information – Single-lane closures facilitated by flaggers will be occurring on Huntington Road. Road users should exercise caution and expect delays of up to 20 minutes during work hours.

Huntington Road & Burgess Road Utility Work (La Pine Area) – Utility work will be occurring along Huntington Road south of Burgess Road. Utility work will also be occurring along Burgess Road near Glenwood Road.

Traffic Information – Shoulder closures and single-lane closures facilitated by flaggers will be occurring on Burgess Road and Huntington Road. Road users should exercise caution and expect delays of up to 20 minutes during work hours.

Prescribed Burning (County-wide) – Prescribed burns may be occurring near various County roads. Information on prescribed burning is available at https://centraloregonfire.org/.

Traffic Information – Road users should expect limited visibility due to smoke during or immediately after a prescribed burn. Most smoke impacts occur during the night and early morning hours.
