Deschutes County

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Deschutes County Community Justice Officer Andrea Abramson has been selected as the 2024 Juvenile Justice Professional of the Year for the Central and Eastern Oregon region by the Oregon Juvenile Department Directors’ Association.

Abramson has worked in the county’s Juvenile Department for more than 30 years. She carries a full case load, working with young people who require both formal and informal supervision.

According to her co-workers, community partners and the youth and parents that she counsels, Abramson is compassionate, caring, thoughtful and is committed to bringing positive change to people’s lives.

“The effort Andrea puts into each, and every case is unmatched,” said Community Justice Deputy Director Sonya Littledeer-Evans. “Anyone who has an opportunity to be around Andrea for any period of time comes away from that interaction with an appreciation for who she is and for the positive, healing impact she has on others.“

Abramson was presented the award at the OJDDA Annual Conference on Monday, Sept. 16 in Seaside.
