BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Unofficial Logging Co. in downtown Bend has begun hosting a monthly Engage Deschutes gathering. The events are meant to encourage political and developmental discussions in Central Oregon among all community members.

This month's topic was on transportation and included guest speakers, as well as open forum time for attendees to ask questions and discuss possible actions in small groups.

"The idea behind Engage Deschutes is to show that Deschutes County doesn't have to be this giant thing where people feel alone," remarked Josh Hyelin, the owner of Unofficial Logging Co. "We foster that by having people interact with each other."

Engage Deschutestakes place every fourth Thursday of the month, from 6-8 p.m. The event is open to everyone and is free to attend.
