Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office out with warning about several ongoing scams to avoid, report

Deschutes County Sheriff's Office

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office issued a new warning to the community Thursday to beware of several ongoing scams that could prove very costly.

"The Sheriff's Office has received several complaints from citizens who have been contacted by individuals claiming to be law enforcement," the agency said.

"These scam callers demanded money to pay off arrest warrants for missing jury duty, then sent QR codes via text message for payment."

"The Sheriff’s Office will never call requesting money," they said.

" If you receive one of these calls, hang up on the caller, do not open any links sent by the scammer, and notify law enforcement," the sheriff's office advised.
