Judy Trego files to run for Deschutes County commissioner
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Judy Trego has become the third candidate to file for the newly non-partisan position of Deschutes County commissioner and challenge incumbent Phil Chang this spring.
Two years ago, Trego, a Republican, ran for the Oregon House District 54 seat held by Democrat incumbent Jeff Kropf and lost to him in the November election, 64% to 36%
Others who have filed in the race so far include Samuel Facey and Rob Imhoff. The filing deadline for the May 21 primary election is March 12. If no candidate tops 50% in May, the top two candidates advance to a November runoff election.

Deschutes County Resident, Judy Trego to Run for County Commissioner
Bend Oregon - Judy Trego, a 30-year resident of Deschutes County, has filed to run for Deschutes County Commissioner.
Trego currently serves as executive director for a non-profit organization and is an appointed member of the Deschutes County budget committee.
She is also known for her previous service working as Chief of Staff for an Oregon State Senator, an elected Sisters City Councilor and longtime community advocate. The county commission race is a non-partisan race and the two candidates with the most votes will move forward to the November ballot.
In her written press release, Judy said she was excited to announce that she filed to run for county commissioner on January 23rd. “I believe the experience and connections I have acquired over the last 30 years living and working in the county will be a great benefit as I serve the people of Deschutes County.
"I have a unique combination of skills across the non-profit, private and government sectors that will ensure our county will continue to move forward.
Housing, homelessness, mental health, and economic development are areas that are vitally important in our county government. We need to create more opportunities and a better way of life for residents in our county and improve our services.”
