BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Barb Campbell announced Friday that she will be running for reelection to Bend City Council Position 4.  Barb will have served on Council for 10 years and believes she has more to offer.

Here's the rest of her announcement, in full:

Barb has been a strong leader in our City, guiding strategic investments into policies, programs and projects which carefully balance safety, growth and our exceptional quality of life.  She has said, "Our biggest problem continues to be that everyone who comes here falls in love with Bend and wants to live here, just like I did 33 years ago.

"Creating housing that is affordable for our children and our workforce has been a massive challenge we are facing head-on, and we are making real progress.”

Barb is particularly proud of the achievements in affordable housing and for people who were houseless.  She says, “We have created hundreds of units of emergency, temporary, and permanent, stable housing and shelter for people who needed a hand up."

Barb Campbell has built relationships around the region and the state.  She has built consensus and led organizations representing vastly different communities toward impactful investments in transportation and housing--all the while leveraging our limited resources to make our streets safer and our housing more affordable.

Barb Campbell is 60 years old and has lived in Bend since 1991.  Having been a day care teacher/director, a carpenter, an eighth-grade science teacher, a server, and a bartender has given her an unmatched expanse of life experience working with all different people and facing challenges of all sorts. Barb was the founder/owner of Wabi Sabi, cool Japanese stuff, which was not just a beloved store, but a hub of activity and community involvement for ten years in Downtown Bend.
