Firebusters 2025, Day 2: Creating a fire escape plan for your home
When a smoke alarm sounds you have to think fast to get out quickly.
Create a home fire escape plan with two ways out of each room.
Make a map of your house, mark doors and windows that can be used to get out of each room, and sleep with your bedroom doors closed to keep smoke and heat out if there’s a fire.
Practice your plan at least twice a year and designate a safe meeting place away from your home such as a tree or mailbox.
And remember: For any emergency, call 911 and never go back inside of a burning home.
