US Dept. of Labor seeks to distribute wages owed to Oregon workers with online ‘WOW’ tool
PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) – With the year coming to an end, the U.S. Department of Labor is eager to return $819,762 in wages recovered by its Wage and Hour Division’s Portland District Office to 1,195 workers who have earned them and encourages people to use the Workers Owed Wages online tool.
WHO: Anyone who believes they may be owed back wages or knows someone who may be owed wages are encouraged to use the Workers Owed Wages online tool.
WHAT: The laws enforced by the Wage and Hour Division provide the foundation for U.S. workers’ rights, including the rights to be paid legally required wages and other important protections.
Among the division’s top priorities is putting wages recovered by its investigations swiftly into the hands of people who earned them. The “WOW” online tool provides workers a quick and easy way to verify if they are eligible to claim wages an employer or former employer may owe them. The tool is available in English and Spanish.
