NOAA layoffs could affect National Weather Service forecast offices, such as Pendleton

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- It appears that President Trump's goal of dramatically reducing the federal workforce is now hitting NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
A Trump official told NBC News about 5% of NOAA's workforce will be let go, about 800 employees.
This agency includes the National Weather Service. The two work together to put out weather alerts, warnings and forecasts. Our local alert weather team at KTVZ News gets information from its office in Pendleton.
It's not clear if that Pendleton office will be affected.
When KTVZ News reached out to NOAA for comment, a spokesperson declined to comment. However, the person said about 25 full-time employees currently work at the Pendleton NWS office.
