Senator Ron Wyden visits KTVZ, addresses concerns and challenges facing Oregon, U.S.
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Between his two Central Oregon town halls Tuesday, Senator Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, joined Lynsey Harris live on KTVZ News at Five to respond to questions on many people's minds.
Wyden said the recently approved federal spending bill and others in the works will be “very damaging, particularly when right now you've got so many people walking an economic tightrope. balancing the food bill against the fuel bill.”
The senator says he is also concerned about firefighting capabilities with another wildfire season coming soon.
Wyden said he’s “absolutely” worried about potential cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and that “small businesses are going to get clobbered by these tariffs … and there are a lot of craft breweries that are going to get hurt by that.”
“We understand that there's tremendous concern right now,” he said. “I believe strongly that Congress has got to step up. I did that last week. We made it clear that we weren't gonna be bullied. We're going to stand in there and work for people's rights.”
Tracee Tuesday attended Wyden's Tuesday evening town hall at Sisters High School and will have a report on KTVZ News at Ten on Fox and Eleven on NBC.
