CROOKED RIVER RANCH, Ore. (KTVZ) -- For the first time in its 48-year history, Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue placed an order for a department-funded, brand-new structural fire engine - and it just arrived, so the public is being invited to help ceremonially push it into its new home.

The new engine arrived at the fire station just a few days ago, Public Information Officer Grant Caudel said in a news release Wednesday.

"Since its arrival, your firefighter/paramedics have been working tirelessly to get the new engine outfitted with equipment and ready to enter service in the community of Crooked River Ranch," Caudel said.

"The time has finally come, and Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue invites you to help 'push' the new engine into the fire station!" he added.

In this fun tradition dating back hundreds of years, firefighters and community members push the new engine into the bays of the fire station, symbolizing the unity between the community and the fire department.

Community members of all ages are invited to participate! The new engine will officially be pushed in on Monday, March 31st, at 6:00 p.m.

Caudel said the department actually received its first new fire engine earlier this year, as part of the Oregon State Fire Marshal's new Wildland Fire Engine program.
