Governor Kotek orders public flags to half-staff in remembrance of Pope Francis

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) – Governor Tina Kotek on Monday ordered flags at Oregon public institutions to be flown at half-staff, pursuant to a Presidential Proclamation in honor of the memory of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Kotek's office said the flag should be flown at half-staff from Monday until sunset of the day of internment. 

“I mourn the passing of a champion for the poor, for climate action, for a more just and inclusive world,” Governor Kotek said. “His guidance in this moment of human history will be missed. Rest in Peace, Pope Francis.
