Oregon Democrats convene in Sunriver for major summit
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Democrats from across the state and some from across the country have come to the 13th bi-annual Oregon Summit at the Sunriver Resort.
Over the course of the weekend, participants will be in sessions listening to Oregon State Democratic party leaders talk about the future.
KTVZ News spoke with Oregon State Democratic Party Chair Nathan Soltz who is excited for the weekend.
Soltz told KTVZ News, “I mean, at the end of the day, this is all about bringing folks together. If folks leave here making some new connections, feeling more invigorated, knowing a little bit more about what our elected officials that high level in DC are seeing, on the ground, our school board members are seeing and knowing how they can help support and what that message looks like, so they can go back to their communities and share that and we can all rally around that. That's what a success looks like.”
This is a major event for Democrats, as this conference is the launch point for the 2026 Midterm Elections.
KTVZ News spoke with Portland resident Josh Leake whose hopeful for the weekend.
"If you're a democrat in Oregon, you're going to be here because it seems like every person that's in office is going to be here this weekend," Leake said to KTVZ. "A lot of times, everyone's off doing their own thing and other cities, other states and it's nice to get people together to be able to have conversations in the same room."
The goal this weekend is for Democrats across the State to unify around a certain vision that Democrats are hoping to come into play as we get closer to the 2026 election.
