New Camp Sherman road sign honors ‘Deputy Dave’
Long-time resident Deputy Dave Blann died at his home in February
CAMP SHERMAN, Ore. (KTVZ) -- There's a new sign in place along the road leading to the community of Camp Sherman, dedicating the road in remembrance of Jefferson County sheriff's Deputy Dave Blann, who passed away earlier this year.
A group of residents posted the sign last Sunday in honor of "Deputy Dave," as many knew Blann. He worked for the sheriff's office for 24 years and was the resident deputy in Camp Sherman when he died at his home on Feb. 15 of an apparent heart attack.
"The residents wanted something to honor their deputy, who served them for so many years," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook posting. "This sign was posted next to one of the roads that Deputy Dave would patrol and in the winter plow snow for the county road department."
"Deputies in the main Office in Madras used to give Deputy Dave a bad time for the awesome job he landed all those years ago. Working, patrolling and living in one of the most beautiful places in the state of Oregon," the notice said. "Thank you Deputy Dave!"
