MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Recent challenging driving conditions are frighteningly clear in videos shared Friday by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office showing the driver of an out-of-control pickup narrowly missing a deputy and slamming into a car that had crashed on snowy Highway 97.

"Road conditions were terrible from the snow, causing an array of accidents down our main highway," the Facebook Reels post said.

Deputies responded around 4:30 p.m. Thursday to a crash, and about 20 minutes later, "a speeding truck had issues slowing down, and they slid sideways," the narrative said.

A deputy was standing next to a car from the earlier crash when the pickup just missed the deputy and hit the rear of the car.

"Remember to slow down in the snow, drive safely and move over when you see lights on the side of the road from workers or first responders," deputies said.

After the two videos from the deputy's and another person's perspective. the post concluded: "Drive as if your loved ones are standing there on the road ... safely and with extreme caution."
