Deschutes County deputies investigating a suspicious death at camp in the La Pine area
La PINE, Ore. (KTVZ) – Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a suspicious death that was discovered at a La Pine-area campsite Friday morning.
Deputies were dispatched around 8:30 a.m. Friday to a report of a deceased subject at a camp north of Masten Road and east of Jackpine Loop, Sergeant Jason Wall said. Upon arrival, deputies began investigating a suspicious death.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office, the Oregon State Police Crime Lab and the Medical Examiner’s Office to investigate the death, Wall said.
"At this time, the investigation is active and ongoing," Wall said in a news release. "Further information will be released when it becomes available."
"Investigators believe this is an isolated incident," the sergeant added. "However we ask the public to remain vigilant. If suspicious persons or vehicles are witnessed, please contact Deschutes County 911."
