‘Excited to hear from them’: Rep. Janelle Bynum holds town hall in Sisters
SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Congresswoman Janelle Bynum hosted a town hall meeting at Sisters High School on Saturday, where she connected with local residents about a range of important issues.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and express concerns directly to representative Bynum, who emphasized her commitment to addressing the needs of her constituents.
"I'm really excited to hear from them about whatever is on their minds," said Bynum. "I asked them, you know, tell me, tell me everything that you can think of that's wrong. Tell me everything that matters to you. And I take those stories back to DC and elevate them."
Some of the main concerns raised with Congresswoman Bynum during the town hall included inflation and the rising cost of living. Attendees highlighted the need for both Democrats and Republicans to work together to keep prices low and ensure Central Oregonians' bank accounts remain in the black.
Other concerns addressed included the affordability of healthcare and the future of several federally funded programs in Central Oregon. These programs face potential cuts, such as math and literacy development initiatives, funding for the nonprofit "Oregon Humanities," and reductions in rural library services, among others.
Bynum emphasized that the town hall was a reminder of the importance of civic engagement and the ongoing dialogue between elected officials and the public.
